Canon hat vor einigen Tage das 50 Millionste EF Objektiv produziert. Diese Grenze wurde bei der Produktion der neuen Makro Linse EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM erreicht.

The story began in 1987 with the birth of the first camera in the EOS system, the EOS 650, and has since seen many groundbreaking advances in technology, including:

1987 saw the first lens with an Ultrasonic Motor – EF 300mm f/2.8L USM for professional sports and wildlife photographers

In 1995 Canon introduced the worlds first interchangeable lens with Image Stabilizer – EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM for sports and wildlife enthusiasts

In 2001 the first lens to incorporate Canon’s multi layered diffractive optics elements – EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM for professional sports and wildlife photographers on the move

2008 saw the first lens to use Canon’s SWC (Subwavelength Structure Coating) – EF 24 mm F/1.4L II USM for professional landscape photographers

Then in 2009 the worlds first lens with Hybrid IS – EF 100mm f2.8L Macro IS USM for close ups was launched

Most recently in 2010 Canon has launched the new high-quality, telephoto zoom lens the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L II IS USM for all types of professional photography.

Canon behebt mit der neuen Firmware v1.1.0 einen Aufnahmefehler. Bei einigen Aufnahmenserien konnte es unter bestimmten Umständen passieren, das Teile der vorherigen Aufnahmen im nächsten Bild erschienen. Dies wird mit der neuen Firmware behoben.

Die Firmware kann unter canon.jp heruntergeladen werden.

Für Canons 7D gibt es eine neue Firmware Version. Mit der Version 1.0.9 werden einige kleinere Fehler und Verbesserungen vorgenommen.

1. Improves AF accuracy during Live View shooting.
2. Corrects a phenomenon where in rare instances, movie images shot by the camera may exhibit abnormal colors.
3. Corrects a phenomenon that at certain timings, the shutter cannot be released when the camera’s built-in flash or an external Speedlite is used for shooting.

Die neue Firmware kann unter canon.jp runtergeladen werden.

Canon hat zwei Pressekonferenzen angekündigt. Eine Konferenz wird 19/20. August für Point-Shoot Modelle stattfinden. Auf einer zweiten Konferenz am 1. September, werden dann neue Produkte für das EOS DSLR System vorgestellt. Was es genau zu sehen gibt, ist noch nicht genau bekannt. Möglich wäre eine Canon 60D/Canon 7D oder auch eine Canon Canon 1D Mark IV.

Canon hat die Produktion seiner 10-millionste DSLR bekannt gegeben.

Canon has announced that it has produced over 10 million consumer D-SLRs (digital single-lens-reflex) worldwide since the launch of the EOS 300D in 2003. Canon’s D-SLR products have achieved consecutive no.1 rankings in GfK’s consumer hitlist since 2004. Starting with the Canon EOS 300D, the market-leading spot was passed to the 350D in 2005, the EOS 400D in 2006 and the EOS 450D in 2008 (GfK WEU14 Jan~Dec for each respective year) and it is hoped the trend will continue following the recent release of the EOS 500D.

“Canon remains at the forefront of this consumer market growth with a market share of 40 per cent in Europe (GfK WEU14 Jan~Dec 2008) which we account for our commitment to consumer demand and our passion for high-quality image,” said Rainer Fuehres, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging (CCI), Canon Europe. “We hope that the release of the EOS 500D will further strengthen our market position this year.”

The increasing volume of consumer-orientated D-SLR models on the market has also driven an increase the volume of lens sales. Canon’s EF lens portfolio is now the world’s most extensive and popular range of D-SLR lenses, with over 60 models and 40 million sales worldwide.

Canon recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of Canon SLR (single lens reflex) cameras, having launched the Canon Flex in May 1959. Over 50 million Canon SLRs have been sold worldwide and Canon SLR cameras are accepted as the benchmark standard for amateur and professional photography.

Einen sehr interessanten Bericht gibt es auf der Seite Luminous Landscape zu finden. Eine Gruppe von 77 Fotografen ist für zwei Wochen in die Antarktis auf Fototour gegangen. Mitgenommen wurden dutzende von verschiedenen Kameras und Objektive.

Die beiden Top Hersteller Canon und Nikon waren, erwartungsmäßig am meisten vertreten. 70% der Fotografen hatten Canon Kameras, 30% hatten Nikon Kameras dabei. Unter den Canon Kameras waren unter anderem 26 Canon 5D Mark II. Des weiteren waren Kameramarken wie Phase One, Hasselblad, Mamiya und Sony dabei.

Unter extremsten Bedingungen gab es einige Ausfälle bei Bodys und Linsen. Besonders negativ hervorgetan hat sich die Canon 5D Mark II. Von den 26 Kameras vielen 6 Kameras zeitweise aus. Drei davon konnten nicht mehr wiederbelebt werden. Bei den Nikon Bodys gab es keine Ausfälle.

Laut canonrumors.com wird es im August/September eine neue Canon 1D geben. Um welche Variante es sich handelt ist nicht klar. Auch ein Update der großen Festbrennweiten wird erwartet.

EOS-1D in 2009
From a pretty reliable source, I’m told to expect a new 1D announcement in the August/September timeframe. The camera will ship in limited quantities by October 2009.

I wasn’t given any info on specs, just that it’s coming.

Yes, expect a couple of updates to big white ones.

Do not expect any consumer grade lenses this time around.

Canon hat heute offiziell zwei neue Tilt-Shift Objektive vorgestellt. Mit dem TS-E 24mm F/3.5L II ist der bereits vermutete Nachfolger zum TS-E 24mm F/3.5L erschienen. Bei dem TS-E 17mm f/4L handelt es sich aber um eine richtige Neuheit, und zwar nicht nur für Canon. Mir ist bis jetzt noch kein so weitwinkliges Tilt-Shift Objektiv bekannt.
Nachdem Nikon mit dem Nano Coating vorgelegte, hat nun auch Canon mit dem sub-wavelength structure coating (SWC) eine spezielle Beschichtung zur Minderung von Flares und Ghosts im Programm. Beide Linsen sind mit dieser Beschichtung ausgestattet.

Zu den Preisen konnte ich noch nichts bestätigtes finden, allerdings bietet achatzi.de das TS-E 17mm f/4L für 2499€ und das TS-E 24mm f/3.5L I für 2299€ an. Lieferbar ab April.
